Signs You Might Need A New Ice Maker

Blog

Your ice maker will be a critical appliance when you have a restaurant or another business where you serve drinks to customers. You need to have an ice maker that's able to keep up with the demand. Learn about things that can happen to icemakers and signs of issues, so you will be in a better position to know when you may need a new one.

The compressor can be working overtime

If you are having a problem with your ice maker's compressor, then you likely need to get a new ice maker. It can cost so much to have the compressor replaced, that it usually makes more sense to just replace the current ice maker with a new one. A sign that there is likely a problem with the air compressor is strange noises coming from it. Some noises you may hear can include a sucking, rattling, or even screeching noise.

The ice maker can have rust and corrosion

You never want to see rust and corrosion along the base of your ice machine. The corrosion will eventually eat away at the base. Rust and corrosion along the base usually mean that there is an internal leak in the ice maker that water is pooling along the bottom and creating rust. You want to start the process of getting a new ice maker as soon as possible when you spot rust.

The evaporator plate may have separated

The ice is created in the evaporator. This is where it becomes a specific size and shape. The evaporator plate can disconnect from the coils. There can also be issues with other parts coming loose in this area as well. When these types of things happen, it can cause the ice to come out in weird formations and in different sizes.

The area around the ice maker can be too hot

If you find that your ice maker is suddenly performing poorly, and it isn't keeping up with your ice needs, then you want to make sure the surrounding area isn't too hot. If it is, then this can cause the machine to produce much less ice because it is struggling to achieve the necessary temperature due to the heat around the unit. You want to make sure there is enough space around the ice maker where it can get good airflow. However, there may be something going on with the unit itself that can be a serious issue. If something inside the unit is causing that heat, then it's likely that you may need to get a new ice maker.

Creating A Safer Work Environment

I have always been someone who loves to know more about the way the world works, which is part of the reason I started reading about industrial and manufacturing processes. I have always found it fascinating that professionals can create things by hand, and so I started attending factory tours, asking questions, and doing as much research as possible. It was really interesting to see how much of a difference my efforts made, and before I knew it, I was able to completely change the way I thought about manufacturing. This blog is here to help other people to appreciate the majesty of industry. Check it out!
