Six Potentially Hazardous Practices To Avoid With Teardrop Pallet Rack Use

Blog

Teardrop pallet racks are important pieces of equipment at many industrial and warehouse facilities. It is essential to understand the importance of adopting safe practices when it comes to teardrop pallet rack use to prevent workplace injuries.

The following are six potentially hazardous practices to avoid with teardrop pallet rack use.

Not securing anchor plates properly

Anchor plates at the bottom of pallet racks can move around as weight is shifted and removed from a pallet rack. That's why it's very important to secure these anchor plates.

Anchor plates can be secured with anchor bolts. It's important to inspect these anchor bolts regularly to make sure that they are fastened properly. Anchor bolts may periodically need to be re-tightened or replaced to ensure that they are functioning effectively.

Failing to line racks up properly

Pallet rack installation needs to be done properly to prevent accidents. If pallet racks are installed in a hasty manner, they might be misaligned.

Teardrop pallet rack components need to be flush and level. Otherwise, pallet racks could be unstable. After pallet racks are installed, inspect them carefully and make sure that all of their components are connected the right way and line up properly.

Neglecting thorough safety training for employees

Your employees play a big role in ensuring safe pallet rack use at your facility. Make sure that employees are adequately trained in the correct way to use pallet racks to ensure safety and prevent injuries.

Overloading teardrop pallet racks

It's important that staff members are aware of weight capacities for teardrop pallet racks. It's also important that staff members adhere to these weight capacities.

Overloaded pallet racks can easily become unstable. Not only do pallet rack loads need to be below weight capacities, but they also need to be carefully stacked to make sure that the weight load is well-balanced on the pallet rack.

Failing to inspect teardrop pallet racks periodically

Pallet racks should be inspected to make sure that they have not become damaged or worn out. Develop a schedule for performing inspections on a regular basis. Make sure that pallet racks get repairs or service promptly when necessary.

Installing teardrop pallet racks on uneven ground

Pallet racks should only be installed on areas of a facility's floor that are perfectly flat. If a pallet rack is installed on uneven ground, the pallet rack could easily develop stability issues that make accidents more likely.

By avoiding these risks, your teardrop pallet racks can continue to help your company.

Creating A Safer Work Environment

I have always been someone who loves to know more about the way the world works, which is part of the reason I started reading about industrial and manufacturing processes. I have always found it fascinating that professionals can create things by hand, and so I started attending factory tours, asking questions, and doing as much research as possible. It was really interesting to see how much of a difference my efforts made, and before I knew it, I was able to completely change the way I thought about manufacturing. This blog is here to help other people to appreciate the majesty of industry. Check it out!
